Karla holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy / Art Therapy. Her clinical focus is working with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and loss, PTSD, personality disorders, and relational issues. She has experience working with clients with a history of sexual offending, unwanted sexual arousal, and other problematic sexual behaviors. Karla has experience in and is passionate about working with clients who are currently, or in the past, have been involved in the legal system. When helpful, she enjoys incorporating art and art therapy practices into sessions with clients.
Karla has many years of experience as a nurse prior to making her career change into the mental health field. Prior to her time with NewPath, she has 7 years of experience working in Inpatient residential treatment with individuals experiencing a serious and persistent mental illness, issues with chemical use, homelessness, and involvement in the legal system. Karla currently practices under clinical supervision while she completes post-degree state requirements to become an independently licensed marriage and family counselor.
