Some thoughts from Mark Laaser’s “Faithful & True” compiled by David Vraza MA.
Regular (and secret) pornography use and masturbation often necessitates hiding. Fear of getting caught and public humiliation creates a habit of keeping people at arm’s length. Subconsciously, you cannot afford to get too close. This is an intimacy deficit. The false intimacy of pornography substitutes and pushes out the possibility of genuine intimacy. Are you aware of how often you “protect” yourself from true intimacy? Meeting with a group a people who deliberately and courageously choose to start dismantling the wall between them and others is the antidote to the habits of false intimacy. Come join us at NewPath on Monday nights to begin learning the habits of transparency that lead to meaningful and fulfilling relationships.
